The REACH 4 Ghana team has been in Ghana for about 1 week, which has been the public health projects week. The big focus for this year is women's health, particularly developing programs for sustainable sanitary pads for girls to use so that they can stay in school. (Many such projects exist, one non-profit in the Richmond area that we are partnering with is Sylvia's Sisters - for more information: www.sylviassisters.org). Last week they went to 4 different all girls schools and have distributed both disposable sanitation pads that they both brought from the US and bought in country (about 16,000 so far) AND reusable pads (839 brought from the US). In addition to the donations, the team brought sewing patterns and materials to teach these girls to make the pads in country. The hope is to primarily support the use of reusable pads, so that this will be a more sustainable method of feminine hygiene. 

This week the team will transition to medical clinics in several different villages throughout the Volta Region. More updates to come!

Rural Education and Community Health 4 Ghana (REACH4Ghana) cordially invites you to our 2018 Annual Gala Fundraiser, dedicated to improving the health and well-being of Ghanaians through compassionate medical care. This event will be held on Friday, April 20 from 7-10PM at the home of Dr. Robin Foster: 308 Cheswick Lane, Henrico, VA. 

Help us raise money by joining us for a night of fun, camaraderie, and networking for physicians, medical students, and guests while learning about Ghana and participating in the silent auction with items and gifts from many great local Richmond businesses! 
Items include restaurant gift cards, exercise classes, fun Richmond activities.

Heavy hors d’oeuvres and wine/beer will be served (OPEN BAR).
